11th International Conference on Thermal Engineering
High-Pressure Mineral Physics Seminar (HPMPS-9)
The meeting will be held in Saint Malo, France, and will run from September 24 to 28, 2017.
Mineral physics studies provide basic information on physical, chemical, thermodynamic and transport properties of constituents of the Earth’s and planetary interiors. This information, combined with other observations, helps constrain the structure and dynamics of the Earth and other planets.
EMMI workshop on plasma physics at FAIR
June 21-23, 2017, GSI, Darmstadt, Germany
The Plasma Physics program at FAIR, one essential part of the FAIR project, will exploit a dedicated beamline and target area with unprecedented ion intensities. This offers worldwide unique capabilities to the plasma physics community. Already during the construction phase it will be possible to run an attractive experimental program at the SIS-18 target area or using the PHELIX laser. The three-day workshop will give an opportunity to discuss upcoming experiments and continue developing the science program of the plasma physics community at FAIR.
Workshop topics include:
- Physics of high energy density states: theory, experiments, diagnostics
- EOS of matter under extreme conditions
- Energy transport in Warm Dense Matter
- Atomic processes in strongly coupled plasmas
- Laser based photon and particle sources for HED/WDM-diagnostics
- Materials research, atomic physics, and biophysics related to plasma physics
- Experiments with ion beams in 2018-2019 from SIS 18
- Combined laser and ion beam experiments

15th Reinventing Space Conference (RISpace)
The 15th Reinventing Space Conference will be held between Tuesday 24 and Thursday 26 October 2017 at the Strathclyde University Technology & Innovation Centre in Glasgow, Scotland.
The focus of the 2017 conference will be on the novel applications that are becoming commercially viable as space technology improves. These include space tugs; space tourism; satellite refuelling; debris removal; debris exploitation; manufacturing in orbit; real-time video from space; space mining; etc.

С этим и другими жесткими требованием выступили в преддверии выборов нового президента РАН в пятницу десятки академиков и членов-корреспондентов РАН, входящих в так называемый Клуба «1 Июля».
Клуб «1 июля» - это сообщество авторитетных, признанных в России и во всем мире академиков и членов-корреспондентов Российской академии наук (всего 68 ученых), протестующих против непродуманной реформы науки в стране. В него входят известные на весь мир физики-теоретики Владимир Захаров, Валерий Рубаков, основатель проекта «Радиоастрон», обладатель нескольких государственных премий и Золотой медали Грота Ребера Николай Кардашев, математик Александр Кулешов, директор Института океанологии им. Ширшова Роберт Нигматулин, историк Аскольд Иванчик и многие другие.

Выдвинутый в претенденты на пост главы РАН академик Сергеев рассказал о своей программе
Выдвинутый отделением физических наук РАН в претенденты на пост президента Российской академии наук директор нижегородского Института прикладной физики РАН Александр Сергеев в интервью научно-популярному порталу "Чердак" рассказал о своей предвыборной программе.
Программа будет состоять из семи пунктов, объединенных идеей о том, что РАН должна стать важной идеологической структурой в стране, которая будет отвечать за подъем "суммарного интеллекта нации".
